Terms of Service

Last updated: September 9, 2026

Welcome to Woody’s Leather Emporium.

This website is operated by Woody’s Leather Emporium, a small handmade leatherworking and bookbinding business based in Quebec, Canada.

By using our website or placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms of Service and to the other policies that apply to your purchase, including our Shipping Policy and Return & Refund Policy.

We have tried to keep these terms straightforward and easy to understand. If something is unclear, feel free to contact us before placing an order.

1. Our Products

Everything we sell is made, finished, or prepared by us with care.

Our products include handmade leather goods, wallets, bags, small leather goods, handmade books, book covers, personalized products, and custom projects.

Because our products are handmade, no two pieces made from natural materials will necessarily be perfectly identical. Leather can have natural variations in grain, texture, colour, and appearance. Handmade books and other products may also have small variations resulting from the materials and the way they are made.

These characteristics are part of what makes a handmade product different from a mass-produced item.

We inspect finished products before they leave our workshop and make every reasonable effort to ensure that the item you receive matches the product description and the options selected when you placed your order.

Product photographs are intended to give you an accurate representation of the item. However, colours can look slightly different depending on lighting, photography, your monitor, and your device.

2. Product Information and Availability

We do our best to keep product descriptions, photographs, measurements, prices, and availability accurate.

From time to time, mistakes or outdated information can happen.

We may update product information, change designs, discontinue products, or change available options when necessary.

If we discover a significant error affecting an order you have already placed, we will contact you to discuss the situation.

If we cannot reasonably fulfill an order, we will let you know and provide an appropriate solution in accordance with applicable law.

3. Pricing and Currency

Prices displayed on our website are shown in the currency selected or available for your shopping location.

The currency displayed at checkout is the currency that applies to the purchase.

Currency conversion rates and the final amount charged may vary depending on the currency selected, payment method, or payment provider.

Applicable sales taxes, shipping charges, duties, customs fees, brokerage fees, and other charges may apply depending on where an order is being shipped.

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that prices and other information on the website are correct. If an obvious pricing, currency, or listing error occurs, we reserve the right to correct it and, where necessary, contact the customer before fulfilling the order.

4. Placing an Order

When you place an order through our website, you are requesting to purchase the products shown in your order at the terms and price presented during checkout.

Please take a moment to review your order before submitting it, including:

  • Product and quantity

  • Size and options

  • Personalization

  • Shipping address

  • Billing information

  • Selected currency

  • Shipping method

  • Final order total

Once an order has been submitted and payment has been successfully processed, we will begin preparing it according to the type of order.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where there is a legitimate reason to do so, such as suspected fraud, payment problems, a significant website error, inability to obtain required materials, or circumstances that prevent us from reasonably fulfilling the order.

If we cancel an order after payment has been received, any refund required will be handled in accordance with applicable law.

5. Payment

Payment must be successfully completed using one of the payment methods offered at checkout unless another arrangement has been agreed upon with us in writing.

You are responsible for providing accurate billing and shipping information.

Payment processing may be handled by third-party payment providers. We do not need or want your complete payment-card information and do not intentionally collect it outside the payment systems used to process your purchase.

Additional information about how personal information is handled can be found in our Privacy Policy.

6. Custom and Personalized Orders

Custom work is different from a regular website purchase.

A custom or personalized order may include things such as:

  • Custom dimensions

  • Names or initials

  • Logos

  • Engraving

  • Painted designs

  • Special colours

  • Custom layouts

  • Special materials

  • Custom book designs

  • Large quantity orders

  • Other work specifically requested by the customer

Depending on the project, we may require a separate Custom Order Agreement before work begins.

That agreement may cover the project's specifications, materials, price, production time, deposit, balance owing, revisions, approvals, and other details specific to the project.

Custom projects generally require a deposit of 30% to 50%, depending on the complexity of the project, materials required, order size, and other circumstances. Larger or material-intensive projects may require a different deposit amount where permitted by applicable law.

The exact deposit and payment terms will be stated in the applicable Custom Order Agreement.

Once a custom project has been approved and work has begun, cancelling the project or changing your mind may result in the deposit being retained or other charges being owed, according to the Custom Order Agreement and applicable law.

A separate Custom Order Agreement may contain terms that are specific to that project. Where that happens, those specific terms will apply to that custom project.

7. Customer-Provided Information

For personalized and custom work, we rely on the information you provide to us.

This includes names, spelling, dates, measurements, logos, artwork, text, colours, dimensions, and other specifications.

Please review this information carefully before approving a custom project.

If an error is made because incorrect information was supplied or approved by the customer, we are not responsible for that customer-provided error.

If production has already started, changing the approved specifications may not be possible and may result in additional costs or production time.

8. Customer Artwork, Logos, and Materials

If you provide us with artwork, logos, photographs, designs, text, or other material for a custom project, you are responsible for making sure you have the right to use that material.

By providing it to us, you confirm that using it for your requested project will not knowingly violate another person's intellectual-property rights.

We reserve the right to refuse to reproduce material when we have a reasonable concern that doing so could infringe someone else's rights or create a legal problem.

9. Our Designs and Intellectual Property

The designs, photographs, artwork, written content, logos, patterns, templates, website content, and other original material created by Woody’s Leather Emporium belong to us unless we have specifically agreed otherwise in writing.

Buying a finished physical product does not automatically give you ownership of the design, pattern, template, production method, digital file, or other intellectual property used to create it.

You may not copy, reproduce, resell, distribute, or commercially use our original designs, photographs, artwork, written content, or other protected material without our written permission.

10. Photos of Finished Work

We may photograph finished products and use those photographs for our portfolio, website, social media, advertising, or other business-related purposes.

For custom and personalized work, we will use reasonable judgment when displaying information that could identify the customer.

If you have a specific reason why a custom project should not be publicly displayed, please let us know before or during the project so we can discuss it.

11. Shipping

Our Shipping Policy explains how we handle processing times, shipping, tracking, delivery delays, lost packages, incorrect addresses, shipping damage, international orders, customs, and unclaimed packages.

For regular orders, our general processing time is 3–5 business days.

This is the time we need to prepare, inspect, package, and hand your order over to the shipping carrier.

Custom orders have their own production timelines, which will be discussed and agreed upon before work begins.

Once a package has been handed over to the shipping carrier, delivery times and transportation are outside our direct control.

Please see our Shipping Policy for the full details.

12. Returns, Refunds, and Product Issues

Our Return & Refund Policy explains how we handle returns, refunds, workmanship issues, incorrect orders, shipping damage, and damage caused by use or improper care.

Our products are handmade and inspected before they leave our workshop.

We do not offer refunds simply because someone changes their mind, no longer wants the product, or ordered the wrong size, colour, or option.

If there is a genuine workmanship issue, an incorrect product, or another situation covered by applicable law, please contact us so we can review the situation and determine the appropriate solution.

Nothing in these Terms or our other policies is intended to remove or restrict consumer rights or legal warranties that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Caring for Handmade Products

Our products are made to be used, but handmade leather and other natural materials still require reasonable care.

Damage caused by misuse, excessive force, neglect, improper cleaning or maintenance, excessive moisture, overloading, unauthorized modifications, unauthorized repairs, or use outside the intended purpose may not be considered a workmanship issue.

Care instructions may be provided with certain products or on the product listing.

If you are unsure how to care for a particular item, contact us before using a cleaning product, conditioner, adhesive, repair method, or other treatment that could affect the item.

14. Website Use

You are welcome to use our website for its intended purpose: browsing our products, learning about our work, and placing legitimate orders.

You may not use our website to:

  • Commit fraud

  • Attempt unauthorized access to our systems

  • Introduce malicious software

  • Interfere with the operation of the website

  • Scrape, copy, or exploit our content without permission

  • Impersonate another person

  • Submit deliberately false information

  • Use the website for an unlawful purpose

We reserve the right to restrict access where necessary to protect our website, business, customers, or other users.

15. Third-Party Services

Our website may rely on third-party services for things such as payment processing, shipping, website hosting, analytics, advertising, email, and other functions.

Those companies operate their own services and may have their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for services or systems that are operated independently by third parties, although we will make reasonable efforts to deal with problems that affect your order when they arise.

16. Events Outside Our Control

Sometimes things happen that nobody can reasonably control.

This can include severe weather, natural disasters, transportation problems, strikes, customs delays, major service outages, carrier disruptions, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

When something like this affects an order, we will do our best to keep you informed and work toward a reasonable solution.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time as our business, website, or legal requirements change.

The version in effect at the time an order is placed will generally apply to that order, subject to applicable law.

The date shown at the top of this page tells you when the terms were last updated.

18. Applicable Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws applicable in Quebec, Canada, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws provide otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to take away rights or protections that apply to consumers under applicable law.

19. Contact Us

If you have a question about these Terms, your order, a product, or anything else on our website, we'd rather you ask than guess.
